Chapter 6 - Mohammed Iqbal - Page 82

'What I managed to pick up was that the fighter was a man by the name of Mohammed Iqbal who had initially come from a Shukokai karate background, and on the back of competing in many successful semi contact fights had decided that he wanted more from the sport and had turned his hand to kickboxing by way of his trainer Terry Pottage. This new way of competing had gone very well with him, not just because he had a talent, but because of his positive attitude to the sport itself.

He had won all his previous six fights, and then had become British Champion when he defeated another previous big name in kickboxing, the feared Scot Robbie Macfarlane by way of a unanimous point's decision.

I guess that was all I needed to know to satisfy my curiosity. Who he had fought since was of no real interest to me now, as the only thing that mattered, was how I was going to be able to mentally prepare myself to take on, defeat (if possible) this great champion.'
